Local Farms, Local Food in Oregon

I'm working on a video project for King Estate Winery about the origins of the produce and meat that supplies KE's restaurant. It will touch on the importance of community, local farming, and land-use issues. While tromping through muddy fields with the rest of the crew, I was able to shoot a couple stills.
Click on the pictures to expand.

Fern's Edge Goat Dairy for King Estate Winery

Fern's Edge Goat Dairy is a small farm located in in Dexter, Oregon, that produces amazing goat cheese. I wish I had been able to shoot outside more, but it was a typical Oregon winter day... pouring rain. Hopefully I'll be able to go back soon.

Men's Basketball UO vs. Cal

I used two cameras to shoot this game, my D300 with a 50mm 1.8 for the action, and a 7D 17-35mm 2.8 for the low shots. I like the way the wide angle shots turned out. Bummer Oregon lost the game 81-71.

Dr. Vandana Shiva

I had the pleasure of photographing environmentalist, physicist, and philosopher Dr. Vandana Shiva. Shiva fights to protect the diversity of seed for farmers in India and throughout the world. She has taken on agricultural biotechnology corporation Monsanto for it’s patent of seed.

He told he doesn't smile for pictures. I got one smile out of him.

Oregon point guard Johnathan Loyd at Matthew Knight Arena

I had the pleasure to photograph Johnathan Loyd for the Oregon Daily Emerald the other day. What a nice guy... and not as intimidating as most basketball players because he's only 5'8".

Bandon, Coos County Oregon Resources Coproration Chromite Strip Mine

In March of 2011, mining will begin in the remote hills of Bandon, in Coos County, Oregon. Oregon Resources Corporation will be mining for heavy metals in the sandy soil. Some townspeople see the industry as a boost to the local economy while others see it as a threat to the environment.
